Central Church takes to heart Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” We are actively involved individually and corporately in several areas in Tulsa. Below is a list of the organizations we partner with in order to be witnesses in our “Jerusalem.”
- Filling the Void serves the homeless and marginalized of Tulsa by serving a fresh sack lunch, a short biblical lesson, and an opportunity to pray every Friday at 3rd and Detroit beginning at 11:45 in the parking lot of The Caring Center, a ministry of First Baptist Church, downtown. Contact Mollie or Justin to see about filling sacks or serving lunches!
- John 3:16 Mission ministers to the homeless population and offers a recovery and rehabilitation program for the men it serves. John 3:16 also has a family services component. Contact Mollie or the mission directly for ways to be involved.
- Day Center for the Homeless is a shelter run by the city of Tulsa and provides basic food and shelter for the homeless. Contact Justin to be involved with the teens as they serve the homeless and the staff at the center.
- Abba Homes and Ministries is a ministry of Family Church and is a part of their Celebrate Recovery Ministry and operates sober living houses to men seeking to recover from addiction. Currently Abba Homes offers two homes: Hardcastle House at 145th & 91st, and Stephen's House at 91st and Memorial. (Family Church is Central's first daughter church!) Contact Buddy Davis at Family Church for more information or how you can serve.
- Angel Tree is a division of Prison Fellowship Ministries founded by Chuck Colson. The children of prisoners are adopted by churches who provide Christmas gifts on behalf of the incarcerated parent. Central Church also offers a Christmas meal as well as opportunities of fellowship with caretakers and the children. Contact Shannon about being involved with Angel Tree.
- Samaritan’s Purse Operation Shoebox was developed by Franklin Graham. Each year, Central participates with thousands of other churches and ministries to fill shoeboxes full of goodies for children in areas of need in order to have a present on Christmas Day. Contact Ms. Rachel for details and deadlines regarding Operation Shoebox.
